The Ruins at Copan

To truly appreciate Copan, it is recommended you allow at least a couple of days spending one morning at the Ruins with one of the many experienced guides in Copán, a two hour tour will cost around $30 so get a group together. After lunch, the Nature Trail through preserved forest with botanical markers is a pleasant way to start your afternoon.

The second day can be spent visiting the Three Museums, Copan Ruinas´renowned Sculpture Museum will enhance your understanding of this mysterious culture. The Small Museum located on the square is an excellent source of Maya culture up close and the interactive Children´s Museum Casa Kínich is a short hike up the hill past the Marina hotel and is an excellent interactive children´s museum. Afterwards go back to Sepulturas, the residential section of the ruins, the beautifully sculptured benches and areas are a very different facet to the tour of this area. It is elegant, let your imagination roam as you immerse yourself in the lore and mystery of one of the five cultures in world history to develop a written language.
